This weekend, Fowey is firmly in full summer mode. From Friday evening food by the water to Saturday’s visiting cruise ship, sailing activity, live music and a special RNLI event on Town Quay, it's going to be a very special weekend.
Friday evening begins down at Caffa Mill, where Siam Kitchen will be serving Thai cuisine from 5pm to 8pm. Expect chicken satay, prawn pad Thai, vegetable pad Thai and a rich chicken massaman curry. It is the perfect early evening set-up: takeaway in hand, a drink from the nearby Salty Dog, and a seat by the water to take in the view.
Elsewhere, the Safe Harbour is offering a Chinese menu on Friday evening, while later on the Ship Inn hosts Waine Downing from 9pm for some live music entertainment.
By Saturday, the focus shifts from Friday night’s food and music to a busier day on and around the water.
Saturday brings a cruise ship. The Scenic Eclipse II is due into Fowey Harbour at 7am, departing again at 9pm. With up to 200 passengers on board, arriving from the Isles of Scilly and continuing on to Guernsey, her visit will bring an extra flow of visitors into town throughout the day.
Also on Saturday, Fowey Town Quay hosts a landmark RNLI moment as the new Fowey Atlantic 85 lifeboat, B-956, is officially named Spirit of Daisy at 3pm during a naming ceremony and service of dedication. Named in memory of donor Alan Jackson’s mother, Daisy, the lifeboat will later launch with Fowey’s D class lifeboat for a harbour display.
Alongside this, the town is preparing to welcome around 40 Lark dinghies ahead of the 2026 Musto Lark National Championships, which begin on Sunday and run through to Wednesday. Hosted by the Royal Fowey Yacht Club and Fowey Gallants Sailing Club, the event brings a national fleet to Fowey, with racing taking place just outside the harbour.
The activity will be most visible around Caffa Mill, where boats will be launched and recovered each day. From Saturday, sections of Caffa Mill Car Park will be closed to accommodate the championships, so visitors should plan ahead and use alternative parking options including the Main car park, Readymoney, Station Yard or Fowey River Academy. For those watching from ashore, the sailing will be best seen from further out of town. Alldays Field offers one of the widest views across the bay, taking in the race area against the backdrop of the open sea. Closer to the centre, there will still be plenty to see as boats head out and return, particularly around Caffa Mill, Town Quay and the Esplanade.
Back in town, the Ship Inn continues the weekend’s music line-up. Lady Garden Ensemble plays on Saturday evening, followed by Charlie on the keys from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday. The weekend rounds off with the Sunday evening pub quiz at 7pm.
Taken together, it is a weekend that feels like summer is in full flow in Fowey: boats moving through the harbour, visitors arriving by sea, music drifting from pubs, people gathering along the waterfront and a special RNLI moment adding to the sense of occasion. Whether you are here for the sailing, the food, the music or just to soak up the atmosphere, it is a good time to be in Fowey.
