Since medieval times the Cornish landscape has pulsated with stories of King Arthur, King Mark, Tristan and Isolde. Such tales are powerful place-making tools which link these legendary figures to real and imagined places across Cornwall and have inspired generations of pilgrims, writers, artists and historians to seek them out. This illustrated talk explores the history of seeking King Arthur and King Mark across the Cornish landscape looking at sites around Golant and Fowey as well as presenting results of recent archaeological excavations at Tintagel Castle in 2017.
