This exhibition explores the interplay between abstraction and landscape, where traces of place emerge instinctively within the artist’s work. Each piece invites the question of whether these forms are consciously shaped or arise from a deeper, subconscious connection to the surrounding environment.

Set against the backdrop of Cornwall’s coastline, the work is deeply influenced by a landscape that is both immersive and inescapable in its presence. The sea, in particular, becomes a site of pause and release, where the act of painting is intertwined with a sense of freedom and surrender.

The paintings move fluidly between abstraction and representation, echoing the rhythms of the natural world — the pull of the tide, the shifting boundary between land and sea. Through this dynamic process, the work captures not only the physical essence of place but also the emotional and intuitive responses it evokes.
